HOLA PETE, AHORA QUE YA ESTAMOS TODOS, SACA EL BANJO Y CANTAMOS...

Es una de las noticias en los diarios de hoy, el abuelo Pete Seeger se nos fue para siempre. Dejadme darle las gracias a Pete por todas las horas que me regaló descubriendo su música en aquel primitivo tocadiscos que nunca falló, como sus canciones, nunca me aburrieron, porque la música buena, la de verdad, nunca cansa.

Eran años en blanco y negro, los 60. Son muchas las canciones que recuerdo, pero una en especial, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?", me ha acompañado durante todos estos años por la dulzura de su melodía, la lírica de sus versos y la contundencia de su ironía y crítica de la guerra.
En 1993 la cantó en Barcelona, en el Palau Sant Jordi, acompañado por un nieto suyo y a un ritmo lento, ya tenía sus 74 años.

El era el maestro y los demás, discípulos aventajados, como los Peter Paul and Mary. A todos les gustaba juntarse y cantarla.

"¿Qué se ha hecho de nuestra juventud, de nuestro momento, de nuestra vida?, ha paso tanto tiempo", podrían frasear los cuatro con el estribillo. Ahora que están todos juntos seguro que volverán a sacar las guitarras, y cantarán largo, tienen repertorio para hacerlo y no lo hacen nada mal ¿verdad?
